Partner with us on International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day on March 8th is a moment to celebrate both the progress and the potential for women across our city and our world.
It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the disproportionate impact of housing insecurity and homelessness on women in our city, specifically women of color.
- In NYC, 91% of families in shelter with children are female-headed.
- 95% of people experiencing homelessness in NYC shelters identify as people of color.
- This year, about 30% of Black women are behind on their rent — they are the group most likely to face rental arrears.
- Black women in 17 states face eviction at twice the rate as white people.
Covid-19 did not create this problem — it exposed longstanding inequities. As we work collectively with organizations across the city to get our elected leaders to increase support for homelessness prevention and affordable housing, we are also acting now to ensure women of color and their families do not lose their homes.
At The Partnership for the Homeless, we believe homelessness is solvable — and the best way to solve it is to prevent it.
If you can, partner with us and honor International Women’s Day with a donation to ensure more NYC women stay safely housed.
NYC women and their families struggling to pay rent and stay in their homes need your generosity today.
Give today. It’s a good year to support those who are struggling.
